#1 Kāpiti Mesh Router Installation & Configuration

Blanket your whole home or office in fast, reliable Wi-Fi — no dead spots, no dropouts, no walking to the router to reset it. We design, install and configure professional mesh systems for homes and businesses right across the Kāpiti Coast.

A mesh network is only as good as the way it's set up. We place every node for real-world coverage, wire the backhaul where we can and tune the channels, so you get one seamless network that just works — not a box of blinking lights that keeps dropping out.

What is a wireless mesh network?

How a wireless mesh network works

A wireless mesh network uses two or more nodes (small access points) that work together as a single Wi-Fi network. Instead of one router straining to cover the whole place, the nodes share the load and hand your devices off to the strongest signal as you move around — so you get consistent speed in every room, on one network name, with no manual switching.

Mesh is designed to cover the inside of a building — a home, office or shop. It's the right fix for dead spots, weak signal and dropouts caused by distance, walls and multiple levels. From a compact two-node setup in an apartment to a large multi-level home or a busy office, we size and configure the system to match your space.

On the Kāpiti Coast we install and configure mesh Wi-Fi everywhere from Paekākāriki and Paraparaumu to Waikanae, Te Horo and Ōtaki — whether you want a complete new system or help getting an existing mesh running the way it should.

Get it set up right

Why most mesh systems underperform

Mesh is a brilliant technology for covering a whole home or office — but only when it's set up properly. Most of the dropouts and dead spots people blame on "bad Wi-Fi" come down to how the mesh was installed, not the gear itself.

Nodes shoved behind a TV, placed too far apart, or all talking back to each other wirelessly will still leave you with weak spots and buffering. Cheap supermarket kits make it worse by hiding the settings that actually matter.

We design the layout around your building, wire the backhaul between nodes wherever we can, and tune the channels and roaming so your devices hand off cleanly as you move around. That's the difference between a box of blinking lights and Wi-Fi that just works.

Before you buy a mesh kit off the shelf or let another tech simply "plug it in", get the design right first. Node placement and a wired backhaul are what turn mesh from hit-and-miss into seamless, whole-home Wi-Fi.

How we help

Complete mesh installs, or help with your existing setup

Complete Mesh Installation

From coverage plan to switch-on. We recommend the right system, place and mount every node, wire the backhaul where possible and configure it for seamless roaming — then test real-world speed in every room. One clear, fixed quote before we start.

Help With Your Existing Mesh

Already bought a mesh kit, or inherited one that keeps dropping out? We'll audit it, reposition and re-tune the nodes, add a wired backhaul where it helps and fix the settings — so the gear you already own finally performs.

★★★★★
Amazing service. For years we struggled with intermittent disconnections, dropouts and weak signal down the back of our house. We thought we had the right setup, but Dave came and installed a whole new setup for us, and we can now stream 4K Netflix in the back bedroom, yay!

Mesh Wi-Fi FAQs

What is a mesh Wi-Fi network?
A mesh network uses two or more nodes that work together as one Wi-Fi network. As you move around your home or office your devices connect to the nearest node automatically, so you get strong, consistent Wi-Fi everywhere on a single network name — no dead spots and no manual switching.
Will mesh fix my dead spots and dropouts?
In almost all cases, yes — when it's designed and placed correctly. Dead spots, weak signal and dropouts are usually caused by distance, walls or multiple levels overwhelming a single router. A properly configured mesh puts signal where you actually need it and keeps your devices connected as you move.
Is mesh better than a Wi-Fi extender or booster?
Yes. Extenders usually create a separate, slower network that your devices cling to in the wrong spots. A mesh system is one seamless network with smart roaming, so it's faster, more reliable and far less hassle day to day.
Do I need to run cables for a mesh system?
Not necessarily — mesh works wirelessly between nodes. But wherever we can run a network cable (a wired backhaul) between nodes, the system is noticeably faster and more stable. We'll assess what's practical in your building during the consultation.
How many mesh nodes will I need?
It depends on the size, layout and construction of your home or office. A smaller home might need two nodes; a large or multi-level property with thick walls may need three or more. We work this out on site so you're not paying for hardware you don't need.
What mesh brands do you install?
We install and configure enterprise-grade systems such as Ubiquiti UniFi for the best performance and control, as well as quality consumer mesh where it suits. We'll recommend the right option for your space and budget, or fine-tune gear you already own.
Can mesh reach a separate building or shed?
No — mesh is designed to cover the inside of one building, and Wi-Fi won't reliably reach a separate structure, especially through steel or over distance. To connect a second building you need a point to point wireless bridge. See our Point to Point Bridge Solutions page for that.
How much does mesh installation cost?
It starts with a one-hour on-site consultation at our standard rates — $125 including GST for residential or $145+GST for business, plus a $25 local travel fee. After we've assessed your space, the full installation (hardware and labour) is quoted separately as one fixed price.
